The Minions have made us laugh during their adventures... But how do you draw them? They are actually very easy to create and that's what we will see, step by step, in this detailed tutorial. Get your pencils ready!

DRAWING THE BODY OF THE MINION

To get started, let's take a model. For my part, I chose to make Bob, but any minion will do, they are all identical in construction.

STEP 1: THE BODY

Drawing of a minion's head

To start your drawing, first draw a circle and then divide it in two with a line extending a few cm beyond the circle.

Now we proceed to make the body. For this, simply make an end of a rectangle that extends from the sides of the circle. Be sure to round the corners, because minions are very round.

DRAWING THE MINION'S FACE

STEP 2: EYES/GLASSES

For the eyes and glasses, it's simple. Start by drawing two circles as shown above.

Next, outline the circles to create the glasses. They need to be quite thick.

Add the strap that holds the glasses on the side and make it protrude slightly from the head.

Next proceed with the eyes. Make a circle in the centre of the glasses and another smaller one in the centre of the eye, which you fill in with black. Another even smaller one in the right corner to create the reflection.

DRAWING THE MOUTH

STEP 3: THE MOUTH

To make the mouth, create a banana shape

Then proceed with the teeth; once again you need to round off the edges.

DRAWING THE ARMS

STEP 4: THE ARMS

Minion arm drawing

For the first arm, the hand starts just below the belly and is simplified. A thumb and a big finger, that's all!

The other arm will be slightly longer; it's a cartoon principle in which the proportions are adapted and modified according to the pose.

In the basic pose, he is making a gesture with his hand, so you will draw the arm bent and the hand seen from the front. The elbow should be rounded and smooth.

For the hand, there isn't really a clear demarcation, especially as we'll be adding gloves over it. Therefore create a thumb and two big fingers.

THE MINION'S CLOTHES

STEP 5: CLOTHING

drawing of the minion's clothes

The minions' clothes are devoid of detail, there will be no frills or anything else, just the essentials and the shape.

For a start, the gloves. Just add volume to the wrists and you're done! We have already created the general shape by drawing the fingers.

Next, the overalls. To make them, we will first draw the shape and then make the pockets. First, draw the collar. It starts at one side and crosses the minion in the shape of a semicircle. The lines must be straight, because unlike the body of the minion, the dungaree has a rigid shape.

Then you will draw squares below to make the holes on the sides and at the same time define the straps.

Finish the straps by closing them and adding the buttons.

Add a pocket in the middle and on the sides and a line at the bottom to mark the middle of the overalls.

drawing of the minion's legs

Finally, the legs and feet.

Nothing simpler, for the pants, draw two rounded rectangles.

For the shoes, you make the shape of little feet.

Erase the construction lines and, if you wish, add colors:

Yellow for the body; blue for the overalls; black for the gloves, shoes, and the strap of the glasses; gray for the glasses and brown for the eyes.

CONCLUSION

With this tutorial, you can draw any minion. You just need to modify a few details: lengthen the body, add hair, remove an eye, ...

You have the basics, now it's your turn to play!
