and this is the last one. I limited myself to the three elements provided at the beginning because I was already struggling to manage them all đ so, here it is, hoping I didnât do too badly? I look forward to your feedback, thank you in advance!
Hi Dsalaun, youâve done some great work! Itâs great that youâve worked in stages. As for the composition itself, your images lack depth in the first three panels; itâs already better in the fourth. Think about drawing your horizon line (it works better if itâs on the thirds of the image), moving your elements away from the edge of the frame, and placing your main elements on the focal points of the image. I hope these little tips will help you:)
Hello Kate45, Of your three suggestions, the elements are too close to the top of the frame. Leave some breathing room, and also consider drawing a horizon line; this will help to create depth.
Hello LePigeonVoyageur19, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I think all of this looks great! I think you could experiment even more with the distances by placing the elements further apart and varying the planes. The last two thumbnails are a bit more elaborate and look really good. On the second-to-last one, you could have lowered the elements a bit towards the bottom; that would have filled the empty space and left you more room for the waterfall at the top. Be careful with the low-angle views to make sure you draw all the elements from below. Great work! :)
Here are my drawings. I really wanted to try a birdâs-eye view to challenge myself, and it was quite a struggle to draw the trees that way, especially the trunks. I had the same problem with the facade of the house.
Reading the comments, I realize I could have also tried using vanishing points.
However, I had a lot of fun. I like the idea that even with very simple drawings, you can already represent and tell a story ^^
I realize that my drawings donât really stand out in terms of contrast compared to those of the other students. Should I press harder with the pencil? Iâm afraid that if I do, Iâll end up with marks when I try to erase them :-/
Bonjour
Voici mes dessins.
Hello GreenBasilic, sorry for the delay. Indeed, your line was a bit faint. You can make your lines a bit bolder, especially for the important elements, if you like, but overall it was still legible and I think it looks very good! To enhance the sense of depth (and also to have a reference point for placing your elements), place your horizon line as soon as possible. The overhead view is really nice, but pay attention to the empty spaces in your composition. For example, you could have placed the house in the upper right corner. The last thumbnail didn't seem very clear; by placing the tree on the left edge with the character sitting against the trunk, you can create a more compelling composition. Nice work.
Hello Dalair, these compositions are great! Just a heads-up on the first thumbnail: there are two different perspectives (the house and trees in the foreground are shown head-on, while the background seems to be from a higher angle). In your second thumbnail, you could potentially add the horizon line, but itâs not mandatory if you want to create a sense of great height. Be careful with the low-angle views to make sure all the elements are drawn from below.
Once again, a beautiful composition, albeit a little more complex. In the second panel, thereâs the same issue of having two different angles in the same image, but itâs less pronounced. You could also draw the bridge from a frontal perspective and possibly shift it to the right. The next panel is dense with all these trees; the eye is drawn to the central tree with the character in front. Try placing the other trees in a way that emphasizes the distances between them. Youâll see in my corrections that in some places, simply moving an element to the right or left is enough to better balance the composition.
Hi Clo, your compositions are great! Just adding a horizon line to your thumbnails will give your images more depth. Also, thereâs a blank space on the right in the middle thumbnail. I mentioned it before, but the resolution of your images is a bit too low, and it makes it a bit difficult for me to distinguish all the details... How do you take your photos?
Hello Madeline! Very nice composition work! Try to place your horizon line more often; it will give your drawing more depth and serve as a reference point for placing your elements. Donât hesitate to move some elements around, to space them out, and pay attention to the empty spaces you leave in your composition (like in the upper right and left corners of your 5th panel).
Well done on these more complex compositions! However, pay attention to the proportions relative to the size of the different elements. In the first two thumbnails, the composition is still not very clear. For the rest, as mentioned earlier, donât forget your horizon line and, if necessary, move the elements within your frame according to their distance to give your image room to breathe.

Bonjour Clo, super tes compos! Comment tu prends tes photos?

Hello Madeline! Very nice composition work! Try to place your horizon line more often; it will give your drawing more depth and serve as a reference point for placing your elements. Donât hesitate to move some elements around, to space them out, and pay attention to the empty spaces you leave in your composition (like in the upper right and left corners of your 5th panel).
Bonjour Madeline!
