Nice work, I like how you rendered the rabbitâs fur :) Just be careful, the volumes are a bit uniform; you should emphasize the shadows and highlights more. Youâve clearly understood how to use hatching, but pay attention to the grass. Itâs strange to change the direction of the hatching on the ground compared to the clumps of grass. If the ground has grass everywhere, the lines should all point upwards, and not be tightly angled diagonally, which gives the effect of a carpet stuck to the ground. Otherwise, the drawing works well, good job :)

The hatching is well done and follows the contours of the object nicely; itâs good work :) The photo gives the impression that the shading on the left could have been a bit more pronounced, but perhaps itâs only visible in the photo and not in reality ^^ Otherwise, itâs approved!
Itâs a bit messy, thatâs true (but itâs okay), you can make a rough sketch, and then on another sheet of paper, redraw the basic lines on top (so that you can see them through the paper) to have a clear base before adding the values. As for the drawing itself, itâs good, but pay attention to the area behind the wheel, which should follow the curve of the mouse more closely. For the values, the grays are a bit too similar; it lacks gradients towards even darker grays (use a darker pencil if needed). For the hatching, I get the impression that youâve colored it or made loops; hatching is more about lines that intersect!
Thatâs it, thereâs still a little work to be done, but itâs pretty good :)
Very nice, with good contrast and well-executed in both drawings, well done! The only minor issue I could point out is between the light and darker areas below the stapler; the hatching seems very perpendicular, which gives it a slightly "grid-like" effect at the separation between the tonal values. But it's just a minor detail. I'm attaching an explanatory sketch ^^ Otherwise, great work!
Nice drawing! The thick and uneven edges of some of the shapes give it a very nice "Japanese print" feel :) The principle of hatching is well understood :) Just be careful with the widely spaced hatching in the foreground, as it lacks a bit of consistency compared to the rest. While itâs in the foreground, it creates a somewhat grid-like effect. Itâs better to tighten it up a bit without pressing too hard so that it remains clear. Under the floating island, there are areas of very dark hatching, while the rest is white; I think it would look better if it were a little lighter.
The effect on the clouds, following the volumes, is quite good. There is just still a little work to be done on the gradients where the transition from very dark to lighter is sometimes a bit abrupt (you can also see it on the upper edge of the floating island). Try to gradually loosen your lines and press less as you move away from the dark areas. I notice that there isnât specifically a direction of light in this drawing, but thatâs also what gives it that âprintâ style. There are some very good things in this drawing, keep going :)

Youâre welcome! Itâs the edges with the very dark hatching that give it that âbrushstrokeâ effect. If you want, you can try something with a light direction; you can start with a template if that helps.

I feel like Iâve gotten myself into a tricky situation because the original drawing is very dark, and I really hesitated about how to fill in the completely black areas. Is this really an illustration where hatching is appropriate? Is it easily readable with lighter shades?

The rendering is very good; itâs very pretty! However, itâs quite clear compared to the original model, and it lacks a bit of contrast. This can be corrected by applying more pressure with a thicker pencil (but make sure itâs well-sharpened). However, even then, it wonât achieve the same level of contrast as the original model using just a pencil. Manga artists often work with pens and black ink, which creates very deep black hatching. We can actually see some hatching at the bottom of the tree trunk. Everything that is gray is done with cross-hatching, but itâs possible to achieve this with hatching in a different style. I think this drawing is well-suited for hatching, but it should be done with ink to achieve a similar level of contrast. I think that even for a hatching exercise, the areas of pure black can be completely filled with black without hatching, and then the hatching can be added when it becomes a little lighter than the deep black. Like at the bottom of the trunk.

Indeed, working directly with ink is a step up, as you canât erase anything once itâs done. But itâs good practice. Your exercise already shows a good understanding of hatching; youâre mastering it. So, if you want to go further and achieve a result thatâs more similar to the original, this is the way to do it.

Very nice and well done! Congratulations on your patience; the result is worth it! The advice I could offer concerns the background (buildings and sky). The hatch marks are sometimes very far apart but also very pronounced, which can create the impression of a pattern or grid rather than hatch marks used to render values. When you want to create highlights, it is often better to leave the hatch marks quite close together but not press too hard; it is often more delicate. In any case, it is very beautiful work :)
The portrait is quite good, but thereâs still some work to be done on the hatching. Be careful with the blending; the hatching is becoming too indistinct. Also, on the face, you can see more lines going in a single direction, and gradients created with blending. The gradients should rather be created with more or less overlapping and spacing of lines that are more or less pronounced. Using blending avoids confronting the problems of hatching. Also, pay attention to the dark areas on the face (forehead and cheeks); it doesnât seem like they correspond to a direction of light, but rather look like spots, and we canât tell where the light is coming from. To start rendering values well, you can use a black and white photo with well-defined shadows and light, so you can better observe where the shadows and light are. Joli rendu, j'aime bien le rendu des poils du lapin :) Attention il est un peu uniforme niveau volumes, il faudrait plus accentuer les ombres et lumiÚres. Le travail des hachures est bien compris, mais attention au niveau de l'herbe, c'est bizarre de changer le sens des hachures du sol par rapport aux touffes d'herbe. Si le sol a de l'herbe partout, les traits devraient aller en l'air partout et non pas aller en diagonale serrés ce qui donne un effet de tapis plaqué au sol. Sinon le dessin fonctionne bien, bien joué :)

Les hachures sont bien rĂ©alisĂ©es et suivent bien les volumes de l'objet, c'est du bon travail :) La photo donne l'impression qu'il aurait fallu forcer un peu plus le cĂŽtĂ© ombrĂ© Ă gauche, mais c'est peut-ĂȘtre visible seulement sur la photo et non en rĂ©el ^^ Sinon c'est validĂ© !

Un peu brouillon effectivement (mais ça va), tu peux faire un croquis brouillon puis sur une autre feuille refaire les traits de bases sur une feuille par dessus (oĂč on verrait en transparence) pour avoir une base nette avant de faire les valeurs ^^ Au niveau du dessin sinon c'est bien, attention Ă la zone derriĂšre la molette qui devrait plus suivre l'arrondi de la souris. Pour les valeurs les gris sont un peut similaires, ça manque de dĂ©gradĂ©s vers des gris encore plus foncĂ© (aide-toi d'un crayon plus gras si besoin). Pour les hachures j'ai plus l'impression que tu as coloriĂ© ou fait des boucles, les hachures sont plutĂŽt des traits qui se croisent !
VoilĂ , il y a encore un peut de travail mais c'est plutĂŽt bien :)

TrÚs joli, bien contrasté et bien compris pour les 2 dessins, bravo !
Le seul léger souci que je pourrais remarquer est entre la zone claire et plus foncée en dessous de l'agrafeuse, les hachures semblent trÚs perpendiculaire, ce qu'il donne un peu un effet "grillage" au niveau de la séparation entre les valeurs. Mais ce n'est qu'un léger détail. Je joins un croquis explicatif ^^ Beau travail sinon !

Joli dessin, les rebords épais et irréguliers de certaines formes donnent un cÎté "estampe japonaise" trÚs sympa :) Le principe des hachures est bien compris :) Attention aux hachures en premier plan trÚs espacées qui manquent un peu de cohérence par rapport au reste. On est certes au premier plan mais on a là un peu un effet grille. Il vaut mieux resserrer tout ça tout en n'appuyant pas trop pour que ça reste clair. Sous l'ßle flottante il y a des zones de hachures trÚs noires alors que le reste est blanc, je pense que ça rendrait mieux un peu plus clair.
L'effet sur les nuages de suivi des volumes est plutĂŽt bien, il y a juste encore un peu de travail Ă faire au niveau des dĂ©gradĂ©s oĂč la transition du trĂšs foncĂ© au plus clair est parfois un peu abrupte (on le voit aussi au rebord haut de l'Ăźle flottante). Essaie de desserrer progressivement tes traits et moins appuyer en s'Ă©loignant du foncĂ©. Je remarque qu'il n'y a pas spĂ©cifiquement de direction de lumiĂšre sur ce dessin, mais c'est aussi ce qui donne cet effet de style "estampe". Il y a de trĂšs bonnes choses dans ce dessin, continue :)

je suis tout à fait d'accord concernant les dégradés. je dois les dégradés un peu plus ça fera un passage plus harmonieux.
Tu as aussi raison pour la direction de lumiĂšre, je n'en ai pas mis mais c'Ă©tait pas volontaire. C'est vrai qu'avec un autre regard on dirait un peu une estampe japonaise, j'ai pas fait exprĂšs mais j'adore!

Le rendu est trĂšs bon, c'est trĂšs joli ! AprĂšs effectivement le tout est trĂšs clair par rapport au modĂšle, ça manque un peu de contraste. ça peut se corriger en appuyant plus avec un crayon plus gras (mais bien taillĂ©). AprĂšs ça ne pourra pas atteindre le contraste du modĂšle non plus en restant au crayon. Les mangakas travaillent beaucoup Ă la plume et l'encre de chine, ce qui fait des hachures au noir trĂšs profond. On voit d'ailleurs des hachures en bas du tronc de l'arbre. Tout ce qui est gris est fait avec des trames, mais c'est possible dans un style diffĂ©rent de faire ça en hachure aussi. C'est un dessin je pense adaptĂ© aux hachures, mais Ă faire Ă l'encre pour un rendu similaire niveau contraste. Je pense que mĂȘme pour un exercice de hachures les parties en noir pur peuvent ĂȘtre totalement remplies de noir sans hachures, puis les hachures viendraient quand ça devient un peu plus clair que le noir profond. Comme pour le bas du tronc encore.
Je mets un exemple issu du manga "Vagabond" de Takehiko Inoue oĂč on peut trĂšs bien voir le travail de hachures Ă l'encre, avec les zones foncĂ©es oĂč on ne voit presque pas les hachures ou oĂč c'est tout noir (vĂȘtements par exemple) : https://i.pinimg.com/originals/bb/32/10/bb3210d7bd2476c021674ef253786ec3.jpg

Merci pour le retour, je ferais un autre essai en prenant un crayon plus gras ou Ă l'encre mais cela demande peut-ĂȘtre un niveau de technique plus avancĂ© ? En effet j'ai hĂ©sitĂ© Ă remplir la zone noire sans hachures.
L'encre est intéressant je comprends bien la transition noir pur et hachure lorsque ça s'éclaircit. Je vous remercie pour l'exemple, les illustrations sont super et un trÚs bon exemple de l'utilisation des hachures.

Effectivement, partir à l'encre est un niveau au dessus, on ne peut pas gommer déjà . Mais c'est un bon entraßnement. Ton exercice montre déjà une bonne compréhension des hachures, c'est maßtriser, donc c'est si tu veux aller plus loin et obtenir un rendu plus similaire au modÚle.
Tant mieux si l'exemple a pu aider :)

J'ai changé quelques détails car l'illustration originale est sous la neige et c'est certainement réalisé à l'encre.
Je n'avais pas imaginé que cela me prendrais autant de temps quand je me suis lancée de ce dessin, mais j'ai eu beaucoup de plaisirs à le réaliser.

TrÚs joli et bien réussi ! Bravo pour la patience, le résultat en vaut la peine ! Le conseil que je pourrait donner concerne l'arriÚre plan (bùtiments et ciel). Les hachures sont parfois trÚs écartés mais trÚs marquées, ce qui peut donner une impression de motif ou de grillage plutÎt que de hachures pour rendre des valeurs. Quand on veut faire du clair il vaut souvent mieux laisser les hachures assez serrées mais ne pas trop appuyer, c'est souvent plus délicat. En tous cas c'est du trÚs beau travail :)

Also, on the face, you can see more lines going in a single direction, and gradients created with blending. The gradients should rather be created with more or less overlapping and spacing of lines that are more or less pronounced. Using blending avoids confronting the problems of hatching. Also, pay attention to the dark areas on the face (forehead and cheeks); it doesnât seem like they correspond to a direction of light, but rather look like spots, and we canât tell where the light is coming from. Le portrait est plutĂŽt bien, mais il y a encore un peu de travail sur les hachures. Attention avec l'estompage, on ne voit plus trop les hachures. Aussi sur le visage on voit plus des traits dans un seul sens, et des dĂ©gradĂ©s faits avec l'estompage. Les dĂ©gradĂ©s devraient plutĂŽt ĂȘtre fait avec plus ou moins de croisements et d'Ă©cartements de traits plus ou moins appuyĂ©s. Le faire en estompage c'est Ă©viter de se confronter au problĂšmes des hachures. Aussi, attention Ă tes zones sombres sur le visage (front et joues), on ne dirait pas que ça correspond Ă une direction de lumiĂšre, plutĂŽt Ă des tĂąches, on ne sait pas d'oĂč vient la lumiĂšre. Pour commencer Ă bien rendre les valeurs tu peux te servir d'une photo en noir et blanc avec ombres et lumiĂšre bien marquĂ©es, pour mieux pouvoir observer oĂč sont les ombres et lumiĂšres. Sinon le dessin du visage est rĂ©ussi et bien proportionnĂ© :)
