You managed to capture all the details, which gives us a very clear scene. However, I think it would be wise to add a little more contrast to fully define the volumes and planes.
This is particularly true for the tree trunks in the foreground; as for the forest, itâs perfect as is.
Here are a few suggestions: observe how the logs interlock to stack on top of each other. This creates a sense of gravity, because otherwise the logs will appear to be floating. Take your time to create more detailed lines; this will make a difference in your drawing.
Hello, here is my drawing for this exercise âșïž
Little additional comment: I have a lot of difficulty with the "Feeling/letting go/doing as you feel" approach đ Having followed with great pleasure the Basics of Drawing courses, very "scientific", in understanding the why and how, really very into pedagogy and learning, I now find myself a little lost... I don't understand a lot of things that happen during the videos (How do we give depth without being able to rely too much on perspective? How do we pile up the trunks pell-mell without it being too rigid/aligned? Etc). In the video we can clearly see that these are circles placed by feeling, but we don't all have enough feeling to do things well when we start đ
Also, when I see the corrections of other comments, it is asked to add texture, etc., but, how do we do it? The video does not present that, but rather a very rough sketch, perhaps intended to be reworked afterwards, but, we cannot guess how we give texture to the grass, the foliage, the forest etc...
So my question is above all: Are there this kind of more detailed explanations in the next videos, or, failing that, what are the courses/videos to watch in order to move on from the basic course to everything another course without feeling like you're not comfortable/advanced enough to be able to understand the course? đ
Bonjour, voici mon dessin pour cet exercice âșïž
I understand that it can be complex, especially with this transition between the technical and the intuitive that you mention. But donât worry: the goal of this course is precisely to learn how to observe and interpret. The best way to achieve this is to challenge yourself to explore all the possibilities of the stroke.
Imagine grass, for example: if you use short, curved, and parallel strokes, you will get a much better result than using long spirals. My recommendation is to become an explorer who experiments with different approaches. Here, you have more freedom of creation!
Iâm delighted to see that you understand the point of the exercise. At this stage, our focus is on observation, beyond just formulas. So keep paying attention to every detail!
Done before the correction. I divided my sheet into 9, then I drew the mountains, the trunks, then the trees, and I shaded the darker areas. However, I didn't draw the clouds (as seen in the correction).

Salut Sophie !

Iâm still struggling with letting go, I focused too much on the logs, but Iâm starting to understand the idea of a travel journal.Â
