For me the birth of the characters with great eyes is also due to the painter Margaret Keane who was the first to be successful with his paintings as a Big Eyes character. It would be good to quote it to prevent it from being forgotten as its artistic approach was revolutionary in the rendering of its pernants full of sadness and melancholy.

Ce serait bien de la citer pour éviter qu'elle ne tombe dans l'oubli tant son approche artistique a été révolutionnaire dans le rendu de ses pernnages pleins de tristesse et de mélancolie .

On the other hand, in terms of manga, the origin of the big eyes is a little different: in Japan, it is especially Osamu Tezuka which launched this way of drawing, drawing inspiration from American cartoons like Disney or Betty Boop. We could therefore say that there have been several influences that would have crossed, and Keane could be part of it but in an indirect way :)

C’est une super remarque ! Tu as raison de citer Margaret Keane, son style avec les grands yeux expressifs a marqué les années 60 et a influencé beaucoup d’artistes. Tu fais bien de la remettre en avant, parce qu’elle a vraiment apporté quelque chose de fort dans la manière de représenter les émotions.
En revanche, pour ce qui est du manga, l’origine des grands yeux est un peu différente : au Japon, c’est surtout Osamu Tezuka qui a lancé cette façon de dessiner, en s’inspirant des cartoons américains comme Disney ou Betty Boop. On pourrait donc dire qu’il y a eu plusieurs influences qui se seraient croisées, et Keane pourrait en faire partie mais d’une manière indirecte :)
