I’m not sure if this is common, but I feel like I’m not applying enough pressure when using my pencil: the leads wear down quickly and become smooth, which bothers me as soon as I want to draw details like eyes. It leaves a large, light gray smudge afterward... And with a mechanical pencil, it’s the opposite; if I break the lead (which happens very often), it creates a thin but thick line. Do you often break your lead? And for pencils, do you sharpen them often? Or is it simply that I need to apply less pressure to my pencils? ^^’

Je ne sais pas si ça ce dit mais j'ai l'impression de mal appuyer sur mon crayon : mes mines sont rapidements toutes lisses ce qui me gène dès que je souhaite dessiner des détails comme les yeux. Ca fait un gros paté gris clair après coup... Et pour un porte mine c'est l'inverse, si je le casse (ce qui m'arrive très souvent) ça fait un trait fin mais épais. Vous cassez souvent votre mine ? Et pour les crayons vous les taillez souvent ? Où faut il tout simplement que j'appuie moins sur mes crayons ? ^^'

You can definitely try pressing down less. Personally, I do it during the early stages of the drawing, when I’m sketching the large shapes and building the foundation. But as soon as I move on to the “clean” lines, I press down very hard, haha!
With mechanical pencils, I don’t let the lead extend too much; otherwise, it breaks. And when it’s “flat” or “wide,” I just ignore it. The difference will be much less noticeable than with a regular pencil. With a regular pencil, yes, I sharpen it as soon as it becomes too worn or too wide.

J'appartiens à la team des gros bourrins qui appuient fort sur leur crayon haha ^^
Tu peux essayer en effet d'appuyer moins, personnellement je le fais sur les étapes du début du dessin, quand je dessine les grandes formes et que je construis la base. Mais dès que je passe au "propre" j'appuie très fort haha ^^
Pour les porte-mines, je ne fais pas trop ressortir la mine, sinon effectivement elle se casse et quand elle est "plate" / "large" je fais abstraction, la différence se verra nettement moins qu'avec un crayon pour le coup. Pour le crayon, oui je le taille dès qu'il devient trop usé / trop large ^^
