Furry Animals: The Pastel Cat

This module is dedicated to drawing a cat with pastels. Sanddy guides you step by step to build the volumes of the head, place the main anatomical landmarks, and work on the direction of the fur. You will learn to suggest the fur and bring it out to give your cat a real presence. An excellent starting point to tame the texture of the fur and the basics of animal rendering with pastels.

Birds & Sea Animals

In this module, you will explore two very different textures: the feathers of a bird and the scales of a fish. Through these two guided drawings, you will see how to adapt your gestures and your way of applying color. You will learn to simplify details without losing the character of the animal and to use light to give depth to your subjects.

Fantastic Animals

This final module invites you to step beyond reality and add a touch of the supernatural to your pastel animals. Building upon previously seen techniques (volumes, textures, light), Sanddy shows you how to construct an animal with a touch of fantasy through the drawing of a deer: silhouette, mass distribution, color choice, and overall ambiance. You will see how to exaggerate certain colors and use pastel to enhance the fantastical aspect of your drawing.
