Hello!
Here you go, these are my little rabbit mages. The exercise was really fun to do and allowed me to realize the change that line values can bring to a drawing :-D
I think the first 4 shouldn't be too bad. However, after watching the correction video, I realized that I had done exactly what shouldn't be done for the 5th one, haha. I overlaid all the previous versions and therefore ended up with a pretty dark rendering almost everywhere. It is actually quite close to the 4th sketch... For the 6th, I tried a light coming from behind the character.
I am still very excited to hear your feedback :-)
Have a good afternoon!
Overall, this is very nice work and well understood :) It's skillful and elegant! Everything is good with the first sheet :)
On the second sheet, for the play of shadows, it's very pretty but the fact that you made real shadows somewhat obscures the line values. It seems like the light is coming from the upper left, so the right bottom side of the cape should be highlighted a bit more. However, the 6 works well for the shadow guideline so I actually think you got it. For the "mix," indeed it's not necessary to apply all 4 rules at once, it can be a lot. Yet, it's elegant and you handle it well. As with the 4, the true shaded shadows were not necessarily part of the guideline since they don't stay within the line values.
Hello!
I'm really pleased with your compliments :-D
You are right about the 4th one, I wasn't sure if shadows could count as line values or not. That's one of the reasons why I did the 6th one on the same principle, but just going over the lines without adding extra shadows. And you can still understand where the light is coming from.
I'll keep that in mind for next time ;-)
Thanks again for this thorough response.
Have a great day.
So, it's not bad, but it needs reworking on certain points. For number 3, we can't see much, it's too faint. Also be careful, I think you forgot some angles, remember that every intersection of lines creates angles. For number 4, I understand that you wanted the light to come from the right, but it looks like the character is just cut in half with one half in complete shadow, as if it was totally in the dark. If the light is coming from the right of the paper, the left side of each element will be in shadow, but not entirely. For example, the left side of the right part of the cloak, the left side of the right ear... Like you did for the stick! For number 2, I don't think you understood, it's not the lower lines of the shapes that are highlighted. You should imagine it as if there were a light on top. So what would be emphasized would be for example under the head, beneath the paws, at the bottom of the cloak, the bottom of the scarf... Those are my comments! I hope you understand better :)
Hello Nayala, indeed I had not understood point 2 well; it's much clearer now with the idea of the light from above. In any case, I will have to experiment with objects and a lamp to better understand where the shadow goes... not easy to just imagine đ. Thank you very much for your explanations.
Yes, imagining the direction of the light comes with practice, in the meantime creating a model and retaining by observation is a good solution :) You're welcome!
The first two rabbits are pretty well understood. There are just some small confusions with some features that should not be highlighted or vice versa, although it works overall. For example, on the first rabbit, the right side of the scarf is shaded while it should be in the light. For the silhouette one, some inner features were highlighted when they should not have been. For the one with the angles, I think it was not quite understood. You need to highlight all angles including the crossing of lines, not just angular objects, and make transitions in line thickness. I made a correction on a piece of the cape to show an example.
For this one, it's nice work but lacks consistency. For the first one, some of the lower strokes are emphasized but not all of them and that's not all. A code must be applied everywhere consistently. I'll show visually. So the same issue for the second one. Also, when we talk about shadows, we talk about emphasizing the strokes on the shadow side, not literally making a shadow. In the end, it's pretty but doesn't exactly match the statements.
For number 4, I repeat what I said earlier, regarding the shadows, that's not what was asked for; you should emphasize the lines on the shadow side, but shades of gray for the shadows are not requested.
For number 5, it looks good but that's not what's asked for the silhouette either, which represents the outer contour of the rabbit. I'm attaching a tutorial for a better understanding. Regarding the corners, the highlighting at certain spots looks good, but you should apply the code everywhere.
For the last one, it's perfect for the corners, thatâs exactly what was asked for, it's noticeable and consistently good everywhere, well done! For the shadows, same comment as for the others, but just from an aesthetic point of view, it looks good ^^
In conclusion, it's beautiful, neat, and well-executed work, we see nice values in the lines, but be careful with some instructions that were not well understood. I hope it will be clearer now :)
Thatâs pretty good work :) However, there are still some flaws or misunderstandings.
For number 1, it's not what is requested for the silhouette, I'm leaving you an explanatory tutorial!
For number 5, it could be good but the lines are too thick, it still needs to be harmonious. Also, the large gradient shadows are indeed not part of the line values and blur the vision somewhat, making it difficult to highlight the lines.
For number 2 it's well understood, I approve :)
For number 3 the concept is understood :) However, it's a bit too thick to be harmonious with the rest. Also, when applying a code, it needs to be applied everywhere to work well. Remember that all intersections of lines form angles ;)
Number 4 looks good in terms of lines on the shadow side :) Just like I said earlier, the large shadows that are not lines are unnecessary.
That's some good work, most aspects are well understood :)
Regarding the silhouette, it's understood, but we can consider that the stick is part of the character so you could have included its silhouette too ^^
The one about angles is mostly understood, but for more harmony when applying a letter it should be applied everywhere, so to all angles, including those formed by the crossing of lines. Also, the thicknesses stop abruptly rather than blending gradually into finer ones. Maybe your pen doesnât help with thickness variations, you can use a pencil if necessary.
For the 5, all lines are retraced, so in the end, it's as if everything was in clear line. So that's not what you should do. Take for example 2 instructions and combine them, it shouldn't lead to retracing everything.
Let's move on to the second page!
For the 2, the lower lines of the shapes are good :) For the 3, the same issues as with the angles from the first page.
For the 4, itâs understood that the emphasis needs to be on the shadowed side, but here it looks as if the character was split in two. Even for elements on the left thus on the shadow side, the right side of each element should receive light. So on the left side, some pieces shouldn't be emphasized. Conversely, on the right nothing is highlighted, while the left side of the elements should be in shadow. Tell me if it's not clear!
There are indeed some corrections to be made but itâs all great work :)
Well done, it all seems well understood :) Be careful on the first one (silhouette), you forgot the sleeve holes, it's easy to forget! Otherwise, it's all good :)
... very interesting. Seeing the correction after doing the exercise already helps me see some of my mistakes...đ
Thank you for your corrections ....
I corrected on the sheet (I hope it's readable, if not let me know), and I attached a tutorial for the silhouette which was not well understood. Otherwise, for the rest, the exercises are fairly well understood, with a few small things to review but it's generally good work :)

Here is my exercise for tidying up the drawings.
I used 3 methods:
- Shadows: rabbit in the top right
- Silhouette: at the bottom left
- Angles: at the bottom right.
Have a good day

Sorry for the delay ^^'
The first two rabbits are pretty well understood. There are just some small confusions with some features that should not be highlighted or vice versa, although it works overall. For example, on the first rabbit, the right side of the scarf is shaded while it should be in the light. For the silhouette one, some inner features were highlighted when they should not have been. For the one with the angles, I think it was not quite understood. You need to highlight all angles including the crossing of lines, not just angular objects, and make transitions in line thickness. I made a correction on a piece of the cape to show an example.
Good work anyway :)

I worked on all the features but I emphasized certain aspects more.
Rabbit 1: Lower traits
Rabbit 2: Lower traits, angles, and shadows
Rabbit 3: Silhouette and angles
Rabbit 4: Fine lines and shading
Rabbit 5: Stronger angles and light shading.
I tried to apply myself and I found this class nice, it completely changes the dynamic of a drawing, this story of lines.
Have a good evening.

I will go sheet by sheet!
For this one, it's nice work but lacks consistency. For the first one, some of the lower strokes are emphasized but not all of them and that's not all. A code must be applied everywhere consistently. In the end, it's pretty but doesn't exactly match the statements.

here is my work based on the 5 exercise proposals. I drew directly on photocopies of the PDF, as I don't have a light table.
Maybe my lines go beyond the "line value" explained in this course?
Thank you in advance for your feedback and have a good day,

Good work anyway :)
